Today is Sardar Patel's birth anniversary and the country is celebrating National Unity Day. There is a special program on the Statue of Unity in Kevadiya, Gujarat, in which Union Home Minister Amit Shah is attending as the chief guest. The Home Minister first paid tribute to Sardar Patel and then took the salute of a parade in which paramilitary forces and Gujarat Police personnel are participating.
The Home Minister tweeted, 'Sardar Sahib's dedication, loyalty, struggle and sacrifice for the motherland inspires every Indian citizen to dedicate himself for the unity and integrity of the country. On the birth anniversary of such a great man of united India, salutations at his feet and best wishes to all the countrymen on 'National Unity Day'. The life of Sardar Patel tells us that how a person with his strong will and indomitable patriotism can transform all the diversity within the country into unity and give the form of a united nation. Along with the integration of the country, Sardar Patel also worked to lay the administrative foundation of independent India.
75 cyclists from SSB, ITBP, CISF, CRPF and BSF and 101 motorcyclists from police forces of Tripura, Tamil Nadu, Jammu and Kashmir and Gujarat are also participating in the parade. Cycling personnel have covered about 9,000 km while motorcyclists have covered a distance of 9,200 km from different parts of the country Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also address the function through a recorded video message.
