Pharmacy Council of India, New Delhi has released the new syllabus under the Education Regulation-2020. Archana Mudgal, Registrar-cum-Secretary of the institute, says that this syllabus will be applicable in the institutes from the session 2021-22. Under this, students doing Diploma in Pharmacy course will now be taught the lessons of vaccination, mother-child protection, family welfare under social pharmacy.

Apart from reading the written slips of the doctor, maintaining the medical device, there will also be special training in inpatient counseling. Apart from this, from making the medicine to reaching the hospitals and the dosage and side effects given to the patients will be told. Students will be able to read about diseases like Swine Flu, Corona, Nipah Virus, and Congo Fever.

These changes have happened in the syllabus, the theory paper has been reduced from 12 to 11.

Theory paper decreased from 12 to 11 and practically increased from 9 to 10.

Added the topic Social Pharmacy and Pharmacotherapeutics.

Running Model Pharmacy Lab included.

The syllabus is based on 80 credit points.

Part One consists of Pharmaceuticals, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmacology, Human Anatomy, and Physiology and Social Pharmacy. Part-II includes Pharmacology, Community Pharmacy, and Management, Biochemistry and Clinical Pathology, Pharmacotherapeutic, Hospital and Clinical Pharmacy, Pharmacy Law and Ethics.

Training of at least 500 hours (three months) is mandatory. Training can be taken in the hospitals run by the Central and State governments in the presence of Registered Pharmacists and at the Medical Stores recognized by the Council.

There will be 825 hours of theory, 600 of practical, 500 hours of practical training, and 275 hours of the tutorial.

The field visit will be mandatory

Food Safety Act, Clinical Establishment Act, Consumer Protection, Drugs and Cosmetics, Pharmacy Act, Drugs and Remedies, Medical Devices, etc. will also be part of it.

When will the registration take place

According to the new syllabus, registration can be done only after the issuance of the certificate by the university. RUHS Deputy Registrar (Examination) Dr. Rajesh Yadav says that the D-Pharma syllabus issued by PCI will be implemented after approval at the university competent level.
