Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the countrymen in the radio program 'Mann Ki Baat' today. It was the 81st edition of the program, which aired from 11 am on the last Sunday of every month. In this edition, PM Modi called upon the countrymen to make a new record by making record purchases of all Khadi products on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti on 2nd October. In Mann Ki Baat, PM Modi said on the occasion of World River Day, our rivers are not material things, but they are living entities. That's why we call rivers 'Mother'. PM praised the states and communities working to protect their rivers. PM Modi said, "Today we are celebrating World River Day, I urge people across the country to celebrate 'River Utsav' at least once a year." PM Modi said in Mann Ki Baat that the money received from the 'e-auction' on the occasion of his birthday will be dedicated to the 'Namami Gange' campaign.
Apart from protecting the environment, PM Modi also highlighted the importance of a nationwide cleanliness campaign. PM Modi said, after so many decades, today the cleanliness movement has once again worked to connect the country with the dream of New India. This campaign is also becoming a campaign to change our habits.
PM Modi said that Mahatma Gandhi was a supporter of cleanliness. He made cleanliness a mass movement and linked it with the dream of freedom. Also, if you look at the life of Mahatma Gandhi, you will realize that small things had a lot of importance in his life. The freedom movement got a boost through the cleanliness movement. Mahatma Gandhi did the work of taking cleanliness to the masses in the form of a movement.
