In the match, 20-year-old young fast bowler Karthik Tyagi emerged as the hero. In the last over, he gave RR a memorable victory while bowling charismatic.

Punjab Kings captain KL Rahul has become the second and first player from India to score the fastest 3,000 runs in IPL. He made this record in 80 innings. Before Rahul comes the name of Chris Gayle who scored 3,000 runs in 75 innings.

In the fourth over of the match, Evin Lewis hit four fours one after the other against Ishan Porel. He was looking aggressive, but Arshdeep Singh got him out and gave Punjab the first success. The second blow to RR came in the form of captain Sanju Samson (4). His wicket came in the account of debutant Ishaan Porel. Jaiswal and Liam Livingstone then added 48 runs for the third wicket. Yashasvi Jaiswal played a brilliant inning of 49 runs in 36 balls. Jaiswal may have missed his maiden IPL half-century, but he impressed everyone with his batting. He hit 6 fours and 2 sixes in his innings. His wicket came in Harpreet Brar's account. Shami bowled Rahul Tewatia (2) and showed him the way out of the field.
