Former Goa Chief Minister Luizinho Faleiro has been nominated to the Rajya Sabha by the Trinamool Congress (TMC). The news agency report quoted sources as saying that Luizinho Faleiro will be elected to the Rajya Sabha next week. Also, if top sources of Trinamool are to be believed, then he will also contest the assembly elections going to be held in Goa next year.
Let us inform you that Luizinho Faleiro left Congress and joined TMC in September. He along with three of his colleagues had resigned from the Congress party. However, after this, only four Congress MLAs are left in Goa's 40-member Goa Legislative Assembly. Luizinho Faleiro had praised the TMC at the time of his resignation, saying that Mamata Banerjee is the only leader who is capable of challenging the central government and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
In Goa, many leaders of Congress and other parties have joined TMC in the last few months. After leaving the Congress, Faleiro made many allegations against the party. In his resignation letter addressed to Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Faleiro had alleged that the party's Goa unit was headed by a "troupe" of leaders whose personal interests were the priority. Last month, West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC chief Mamata Banerjee took part in several public meetings in Goa, which was also attended by Faleiro and other local leaders. However, the party is trying to strengthen its position in the state by sending Faleiro to the Rajya Sabha. Earlier it was also being speculated that Faleiro could be made TMC's chief ministerial candidate.
Former CM Luizinho Faleiro had said that Mamta Banerjee is fighting for the people by coming out on the road. The former CM of Goa wrote his resignation through a letter. In a letter to Sonia Gandhi, he had said that I do not see any hope of changing the Congress party from weakening and for the better.
