Monsoon rains have affected life in Delhi-NCR. Due to the rains, while water-logging on the roads has created a situation of traffic jam at many places, it has also affected the operation of trains.
Rail operations were disrupted due to rain in Delhi-NCR on Saturday morning. It was hampered due to the flooding of tracks at several places between New Delhi to Hazrat Nizamuddin and New Delhi to Old Delhi. Trains on other routes were also affected due to this.
Due to the rains, along with waterlogging on the roads of Delhi, the railway tracks were also flooded at many places. The signaling system malfunctioned at many places due to waterlogging on the railway track. Due to this, trains are being run at a slow speed by stopping for some time at different places, due to which many trains are running late. Rail operations have also been disrupted at some places due to falling trees. The biggest problem was between New Delhi to Hazrat Nizamuddin and New Delhi to Old Delhi. Due to this, the timetable of trains coming and going from Ghaziabad and Panipat side has also been affected. More than a dozen trains have been delayed.
Railway officials say that monitoring of the track has been increased. Teams of employees are constantly inspecting the track so that any defect can be rectified. Officials are also monitoring the situation. Water has been removed from the track at most places. Slowly rail operations are getting back to normal.
In Punjab, rail operations have also been affected due to the farmers' protest demanding an increase in the support price for sugarcane. More than 50 trains of Northern Railway have been canceled. Many trains including Jammu Tawi Express, Vande Bharat Express, Uttar Sampark Kranti were canceled.
