The list of 27 players to be retained for IPL 2022 has been released. Chennai Super Kings has retained 4 players including captain MS Dhoni. Dhoni is the second player from Chennai to be retained. They will be given a salary of Rs 12 crore, while Ravindra Jadeja will be given a maximum of Rs 16 crore. Dhoni got Rs 15 crore in the last season, ie 2021. The players who will get more salary than Dhoni include Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson. Samson will get Rs 14 crore from Rajasthan Royals. On the other hand, Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant has been retained for 16 crores, Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Kane Williamson 14 crores, Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma 16 crores and RCB has retained Virat Kohli for 15 crores. On the other hand, KKR has retained Andra Russell and Mumbai Indians Jasprit Bumrah for 12 crores, which is equal to Dhoni.
Dhoni had said before the retention that he wanted to play his last match in Chennai. The matches of IPL 2022 are to be held in the country itself.
