Due to the proposed metro work on the Outer Ring Road in Karnataka, a letter has been sent to the companies on behalf of the Department of Electronics, IT, TV and Science & Technology. It has been advised that companies should continue work from home till December 2022.
In this letter, citing the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation, it has been written that due to the proposed metro line from Central Silk Board to KR Puram on the Outer Ring Road, the employees may have to face problems. EV Ramana Reddy, Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Electronics, has said that this work can last for one and a half to two years. Therefore companies should continue work from home keeping in mind the interest of the employees.
Commissioner of Urban Land Transport Directorate V. Manjula said that if we feel that work from home cannot be increased further, then we will consider it. Companies should encourage their employees to travel by bus, motorcycle. Because only one piece of advice has been given to the companies from our side. On the other hand, Additional Chief Secretary EV Raman Reddy said that only one piece of advice was given from our side. Companies are not required to accept this. If necessary, companies can also start work from the office.
Experts believe that about 12,000 employees work on the Outer Ring Road. Out of this, only five percent of the employees are coming back now. This advisory of the government will not have much impact on the companies. At the same time, Cisco has implemented a permanent work from home policy, and companies like SAP, Walmart, Intel have not yet responded to it.
Krishna Kumar, Operation Manager of Outer Ring Road Company Association says that we are understanding the advisory issued by the government. Despite this, we are still waiting for the new advisory from the government.
