The voting is going on for 19 Rajya Sabha seats from eight states of the country. In Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, there is a fierce competition between the BJP and the Congress. BJP MLA Kesar Singh Jessangbhai from the Matar assembly constituency of Gujarat reached the assembly from Solanki ambulance. He was hospitalized after suffering from deteriorating health. He arrived here directly from the hospital. The BJP has fielded three candidates Abhay Bhardwaj, Ramila Bara and Narhari Amin for four seats in the state. The Congress has given tickets to two seats, Shakti Singh Gohil and Bharat Singh Solanki.
Significantly, the Election Commission had postponed the election to 18 seats due to coronavirus (COVID-19). Elections are on four seats each in Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat, three-seat each in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, two seats in Jharkhand and one each in Manipur, Mizoram and Meghalaya.
After casting the vote in the state assembly in Bhopal, former chief minister and Congress leader Kamal Nath said that it is very clear that we will win one seat in the Rajya Sabha election. Currently, voting is going on for the three Rajya Sabha seats in the state.
