Nearly 90 Rape Cases Daily in the Country: CM Mamata

In her letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee highlighted the alarming increase in rape cases across the country.

She pointed out that, according to available data, many of these cases also involve murder. Mamata expressed concern over the fact that nearly 90 rape cases occur daily in India, which undermines societal and national trust and moral integrity.

In her letter, She further stated that it is our collective duty to end the rising incidents of rape to ensure that women feel safe. She emphasized the need to address such serious and sensitive issues through stringent central laws, which should include severe penalties for those involved in such heinous crimes.

Complete Hearings Wwithin 15 Days - Mamata Banerjee

In her letter to Prime Minister Modi, Mamata Banerjee also stated that for ensuring swift justice in such cases, the proposed law should also consider the establishment of fast-track special courts for expedited hearings. Hearings in such cases should ideally be completed within 15 days."
