An Air India flight en route from Delhi to San Francisco encountered a technical glitch on Tuesday (June 6) as one of its engines experienced a technical fault.

"Air India flight AI173 operating from Delhi to San Francisco developed a technical issue with one of its engines. The flight with 216 passengers and 16 crew was diverted and landed safely at Magadan Airport in Russia," Air India official stated.

Thankfully, all passengers and crew members on board the flight remained unharmed.

Additionally, the Air India official emphasized that comprehensive support is being extended to the passengers on the ground. Efforts are being made to offer alternate options for their onward journey, ensuring that they can reach their destinations as soon as possible.

Expert assistance will now be sought to address the technical issue.

Emergency Landing: Technical Glitches on the Rise

In recent months, there has been a notable increase in incidents of technical glitches and errors during the takeoff of flights.

One such incident occurred in April when an Air India flight travelling from Chennai to Singapore was diverted to Malaysia due to adverse weather conditions and congestion.

Additionally, in March, there was a close call between an Air India a Nepal Airlines plane mid-air. Fortunately, the pilots were alerted by the warning systems, enabling them to take timely action and prevent a potential disaster.

On June 04, an Indigo flight bound for Dibrugarh was compelled to execute an emergency landing at the renowned Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati owing to a technical issue.

Among the passengers on board were several MLAs, including Union Minister Rameshwar Teli.
