Hate Speech Case: Kalicharan Maharaj Granted Bail by Pune Court

Kalicharan Maharaj, arrested in the case of alleged derogatory remarks against Mahatma Gandhi, got bail from a Pune court on a surety of Rs 25,000. However, he will remain in judicial custody in this case. Pune Police is sending Kalicharan Maharaj back to Chhattisgarh. Let us tell you that the Pune court sent him to police custody for one day. Even before this, Kalicharan Maharaj had come to Raipur on bail in the inflammatory speech case. Kalicharan Maharaj had used abusive words against Father of Nation, Mahatma Gandhi on the last day of the Parliament of Religions in Raipur on 26 December.
Let us inform that Kalicharan Maharaj alias Abhijit Dhananjay Sarag was sent to one-day police custody by a Pune court on Wednesday for making derogatory remarks against Mahatma Gandhi. Recently, a court in Raipur, Chhattisgarh had allowed Kalicharan Maharaj to be taken to Maharashtra on transit remand. He was ordered to appear in a Pune court by January 6.

During the conclusion of the two-day 'Dharma Sansad' (religious parliament) in Raipur, Kalicharan Maharaj allegedly used derogatory words against Mahatma Gandhi and praised his assassin, Nathuram Godse. According to media reports, in this Dharma Sansad of Raipur, Kalicharan Maharaj also asked the people to choose a staunch Hindu leader as the head of the government to protect the religion. Raipur Police had registered a case against Kalicharan Maharaj under sections 294 (objectionable act) and 505 (statement causing mischief in public) of the Indian Penal Code. Later, sedition under 124A and four other sections were also added in this case.

Kalicharan Maharaj was arrested from Khajuraho in Madhya Pradesh in the early hours of Thursday, after which a situation of confrontation has arisen between the two states. Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra said that the manner in which the Chhattisgarh Police has arrested Kalicharan Maharaj is against federal dignity.
At the same time, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel took a jibe at Mishra's statement and said that the BJP leader should tell whether he is happy or sad on the arrest of the religious leader. Kalicharan Maharaj was arrested from a rented house near Bageshwar Dham which is about 25 km from Khajuraho city of Madhya Pradesh.
