The Indian Army took decisive action against terrorists in Jammu & Kashmir. On Friday, November 8, two terrorists were neutralized in an encounter in Sopore, while three associates of Lashkar-e-Taiba were arrested in connection with a grenade attack in Srinagar.
Brigadier Deepak Mohan, Commanding Officer of the 7 Sector RR, commented on the Sopore encounter: "On the evening of November 7, we received specific intelligence that two terrorists were hiding in Panipura village. The Indian Army, Jammu & Kashmir Police, and CRPF jointly launched a search operation, during which the terrorists opened fire. Today, they were eliminated, and a significant amount of war-related equipment and other materials were recovered from them. It has come to light that these terrorists had been active in North Kashmir for the past few days."
According to news agency PTI, three terrorist associates linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) were arrested on Friday, November 8, for alleged involvement in a grenade attack in Srinagar. The attack, which took place on Sunday, targeted security forces and injured 12 civilians.
Inspector General of Police for Kashmir Zone, V.K. Birdi, stated, “The arrested individuals have been identified as Usama Yaseen Sheikh, Umar Fayaz Sheikh, and Afnan Mansoor. All three are residents of the Ikhrajpora area of the city.”
The official stated that with the arrest of the three terrorist associates, the case has been resolved. Birdi also disclosed that the attack was carried out under the orders of terrorist handlers based in Pakistan, aiming to disrupt "peace and harmony" in the region.
To target security forces deployed in the area, the terrorists threw grenades from a flyover onto a weekly flea market. The grenades landed near a paramilitary vehicle and exploded, injuring 12 civilians.
