Manipur Violence: A series of violent incidents continues in Manipur. Officials reported on Sunday that in the state capital, Imphal, an explosion occurred outside the residence of a Manipur minister on Saturday night.

In this incident, a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel and a woman were injured.

According to authorities, the incident took place near the gate of the residence of Yumnam Khemchand, a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislator and the Speaker of Manipur's Legislative Assembly.

The incident took place at approximately 10 PM on Saturday, in the Yumnam Leikai locality.

Yumnam Khemchand is a Minister of Panchayati Raj and Rural Development under Chief Minister N. Biren Singh's administration.

Manipur Violence: Explosive Device Thrown by Motorcycle-Borne Assailants

In the Imphal West district, where the incident occurred, local police officials stated that the explosive device, possibly a grenade, was thrown by unidentified assailants riding on a motorcycle.

Dinesh Chandra Das, the CRPF personnel on duty outside the minister's residence sustained minor injuries in the explosion on his right hand.

The injured woman is reported to be a local resident.

Following the incident, Chief Minister N. Biren Singh promptly arrived at the scene and assessed the situation.

A police officer stated, "We have increased security in the area and initiated investigations to apprehend the culprits."

There have been several attacks on the residences of ministers and legislators in Imphal since May 3rd when ethnic clashes between the Meitei and Kuki communities began.

The ongoing violence, which has lasted for over five months, has claimed at least 178 lives and displaced more than 50,000 people.
