Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett has expressed happiness on his first official visit to India, scheduled in early April, at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During his visit to India, Bennett will meet PM Modi and other senior government officials. He will also meet the Jewish community. The Prime Minister's Office of Israel informed that Prime Minister Naftali Bennett will make his first official visit to India on Saturday, April 2, 2022, at the invitation of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Bennett said that I am pleased to make my first official visit to India at the invitation of my friend PM of India, Narendra Modi, and together we will continue to lead the way in our countries' relations.
The two leaders, PM Modi and Bennett met for the first time last October on the sidelines of the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) in Glasgow, where PM Modi had invited Bennett for an official visit to India. The Israeli PMO said in a release that the visit is aimed at furthering and strengthening the strategic alliance between the countries and expanding bilateral ties. In addition, the two leaders will discuss strengthening cooperation in various sectors including innovation, economy, research and development, agriculture and more.
The visit will mark the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of full diplomatic relations between the two countries since India opened the embassy in Tel Aviv in 1992. Over the years, bilateral engagement has revolved around defence and agriculture, but in recent years the relationship has seen rapid growth across a wide range of sectors.
Crediting PM Modi for the resumption of ties between India and Israel, Bennett said the ties between our two unique cultures are deep, and they rely on deep appreciation and meaningful cooperation. Bennett said there are many things we can learn from Indians, and that's what we try to do. Together we will expand our cooperation in innovation and technology, security and cyber, agriculture and climate change among other areas.
