The effect of the tension between Russia and NATO countries regarding Ukraine has started showing on other countries of the world. Amid the threat of war in Eastern Europe, concerns have risen over 20,000 Indian students studying engineering and medicine in Ukraine. Most of the Indian students studying there are from Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala, Punjab and Rajasthan. A petition has been filed in the President's Secretariat in Delhi to bring back these students.
Rajasthan Congress leader Dharmesh Sharma has filed a petition in the President's Secretariat in Delhi regarding the security of Indians in Ukraine. In the petition filed in the President's Secretariat, Dharmesh Sharma has said that about 18 to 20 thousand Indian students from India are studying in different universities of Ukraine. He has said that till now no action has been taken by the Government of India on this serious issue related to their lives. He said that about one thousand students of Rajasthan are studying in Ukraine.
On the other hand, if media reports are to be believed, most of the Indian students studying in tense Ukraine live in western Ukraine, while the war tension is built on the borders of eastern, southern and central Ukraine. If we talk about India, there are about 88 thousand seats in the medical colleges of India, while more than 8 lakh students take the exam to get admission to these colleges. Due to this stiff competition, most of the students who want to pursue medicine do not get admission to colleges in India.
