The 49-years old former Indian skipper played role of Head coach of Team India. He stepped down after the Champions Trophy 2017 following a rift with Captain Virat Kohli.

In an online session with ex-Zimbabwean cricketer Pommie Mbangwa.

"We did really well in that one year period. I was really happy that there were some contributions made and there are no regrets. I was happy moving on from there as well."

"I know the end could have been better but then that's fine. As a coach, you realise, when it's time to move on, it's the coach who needs to move on. I was really happy I played a significant role in that one year,"

Anil Kumble was appointed as head coach in June 2016 and served for one year and stepped down from this job as Captain Virat Kohli and some other team members weren't happy with Coach's unbearable behavior. Kumble was really successful as coach. With his coaching team India performed extremely well and also reached 2017 Champion Trophy's final. The team dominated test side as well by winning 16 matches out of 17 in that tenure.

"I was very happy that I took up that role (India coach). It was great, the one year I spent with the Indian team was really fantastic," said Kumble. "Having been with great performers and again being a part of the Indian dressing room is a great feeling,"

Currently Kumble is working as head coach of Kings XI Punjab franchise in Indian Premiere League. As an Indian Bowler he played 132 tests and 271 ODIs taking 619 and 337 wickets respectively.
