Pakistan Prime Minister Imran's tongue slipped once again. Imran, who came into controversy two months ago by giving an absurd statement on sexual violence, is once the target of the opposition by making an anti-women statement. He has held women responsible for the sexual violence and advised them to stay on screen. He said that the short clothes of women are responsible for the increasing incidents of sexual violence. They should avoid misleading society.
In an interview given to HBO Axios, he was asked questions about a case of accusing a rape victim in Pakistan. To this, Imran said, 'If a woman wears fewer clothes, then it will affect men. This is common sense. Defending his old statement of blaming the rape victim, he said that I never commented on the rape victim, rather I only said that the system of Pardah is to avoid being wooed in the society.
When he was asked about his life as an international cricket star, he said that it is not about me. It's about my society. My priority is how society behaves. When I see cases of sexual violence on the rise, we sit down and discuss how to deal with it. It is affecting my society.
Imran said that there are neither discos nor nightclubs in Pakistan. The society here is completely different. There is a different way of living here. If you increase the temptation here and the youth will not have a chance to go anywhere, then some results will come out of it.
Imran has given such controversial statements in the past as well. Earlier, Imran, surrounded by increasing incidents of rape in the country, had advised women to veil. He held India and Europe responsible for obscenity. Imran had said that we have to promote the culture of the 'Pardah' system, so that temptation can be avoided.
Talking about official figures, 11 incidents of rape are recorded daily in Pakistan. In the last 6 months, 22 thousand complaints of rape have been filed with the police here. According to Geo News, only 77 accused have been punished during this period. This is just 0.3% of the total cases.
