The Rajasthan High Court has dismissed a PIL filed by Congress against the organization of the proposed remove inflation rally on December 12. A division bench of CJ Aqeel Qureshi and Justice Umashankar Vyas gave this order on public interest litigation filed by Rajesh Mutha. Dismissing the petition outright, the court said that we are not accepting the PIL for hearing.
It was said in the petition that the remove inflation rally is being organized by the Congress party on December 12, in which about two lakh people including top leaders of the Congress party are expected to reach from across the country. It was said in the petition that the new variant of Corona has arrived in many countries. It is many times more lethal and spreading than the old variant. It was said in the petition that there is every possibility of increasing the corona by organizing rallies.
Due to the availability of new variants of Corona, there is also a possibility of its third wave coming. In such a situation, the rally is being organized by the state government at the cost of people's lives and this rally can prove to be a threat to the lives of the people. It has been requested in the petition that the holding of rallies should be banned.
At the same time, on behalf of the state government, Advocate General NM Singhvi said that the petition has been made for a publicity stunt and to fulfil its political objectives. On December 2, the news regarding the rally was published and on the same day, the petitioner presented the PIL. The Advocate General said that if the court wants to take self-motivated cognizance, but PILs filed in this way should not be accepted.
The Advocate General also told the court that the petitioner had presented the petition on December 2, but it did not challenge the BJP's roadshow held on December 5. The AG said based on a doctor's statement that the new variant of Corona, Omicron, is not lethal. Till now not a single death has occurred in the whole world. The AG said that so far permission has not been sought from the government for taking out the rally of September 12. The Covid protocol and guidelines will be taken care of before giving permission, hearing on which the court has dismissed the PIL.
