The budget was not presented to Rahul Gandhi before he was elected. Following these comments, Congress leader Randeep Surjewala said that the Finance Minister had humiliated and ridiculed 25 crore people in Uttar Pradesh with his "typical UP-type" remark. This is a huge insult to Uttar Pradesh's 25 million people. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman should apologize to the people of Uttar Pradesh right away.

According to the Finance Minister, the general people have been taken care of in the budget, and an attempt has been made to boost industries in this budget. Apart from that, Shiv Sena MP Priyanka Chaturvedi slammed the government's budget, claiming that when the budget was first announced, the government claimed some very significant things, but it later became evident that the budget is not for the common man, young, women, farmers, and so on. This budget was expected to provide relief to the average man, yet it does not do so.
