Punjab Elections 2022: CM Face will not be Announced in Punjab, Statement of Congress Leader Sunil Jakhar

Amidst the ruckus over the CM face ahead of the Assembly elections in Punjab, state Congress Campaign Committee chief Sunil Jakhar has made it clear that the party will not announce the face for the post of Chief Minister. This election will be fought under collective leadership. He clearly said that Congress has never disclosed the CM face. The exception was the 2017 state assembly elections in which Captain Amarinder Singh was declared the chief ministerial candidate, he said.

Sidhu has been constantly describing himself as the CM face

Navjot Singh Sidhu has been continuously presenting himself as the CM face. According to party sources, most of the state leaders are in favour of contesting the elections under collective leadership by deciding the caste-wise equation in the state. Congress leader Sunil Jakhar said that along with the seats, many other issues were discussed in the screening committee meeting. He said that the seats have been discussed in the screening committee meeting but the final list will be released by the CEC headed by Sonia Gandhi.

Election game is going on in Punjab Congress

Before the Punjab Assembly elections, the game of defection of leaders is going on in Punjab Congress. Many leaders are leaving the old party and going to the new party. But this game of defection seems to be costing Congress. Congress has got a big setback in the form of Fateh Singh Bajwa. MLA Fateh Singh Bajwa has joined BJP. Congress is telling his decision wrong. While talking to ANI, Sunil Jakhar termed Bajwa's decision as wrong and said that BJP has no relevance in Punjab. At the same time, when asked the reason for this, he said that there must have been some compulsion, just like there is no unfaithfulness. Only he can tell the main reason for leaving the party.
