Rotifers Discovered Alive In Arctic In Siberia, a 24 thousand-year-old microscopic creature has been found in the icy area adjacent to the Arctic. This creature is very special and has the ability to survive in the worst conditions.

Moscow

In the snow-covered Siberian region of Russia, a tiny creature has now woken up after 'sleeping' for nearly 24 thousand years. The name of this tiny creature is Bdelloid and it usually survives in a watery environment. This creature has an amazing ability to keep itself alive. Russian scientists have found this microbe from frozen soil in the icy area adjacent to the Arctic of Siberia.

Russian scientists extracted this frozen soil using an excavator rig. "Our report is strong evidence that multi-celled animals can live for thousands of years in a state of cryptobiosis," said Stas Malavin, a Russian soil researcher. Earlier research had said that these microbes can live up to 10 years when frozen.

Microorganism is alive for 24 thousand years

In the latest research, Russian researchers have found with the help of radiocarbon dating that this microorganism has been alive for 24 thousand years. The area from which this creature is found is covered with snow throughout the year. The research is published Monday in the journal Current Biology. This is not the first time that ancient life has been rediscovered from an ever-frozen area.

Russia: Not a meteorite or an alien, the reason behind the 'mysterious' craters in Siberia is nothing less than a warning

Now the ice is slowly melting in Siberia and the remains of very ancient creatures are being found from there. On the other hand, Russia is extracting viruses of that time from the fossils of 50,000-year-old animals that no longer exist. These animal fossils have been found in the snow-covered area of Siberia and now scientists from Russia's Biological Weapons Research Center are extracting their biological material. These fossils were buried there under the ice for thousands of years. Russian scientists are extracting the fossils of ancient woolly elephant and rhinoceros and the remains of dogs, horses, rats and rabbits from the Prague historic period.

'Scientists who made biological weapons took samples'

According to the news, the oldest fossil is about 50 thousand years old, which is of a lemming (rat-like creature). The entire research is overseen by the Vector State Research Center of Virology and Biotechnology. This center was established by the leader of the Soviet Union Leonid Brezhnev during the Cold War. The purpose of this center was to conduct research to make biological weapons at that time. This research center located near Novosibirks in Siberia is making the second corona virus vaccine to compete with Sputnik V. Russian scientists have collected 50 samples of ancient fossils from the Mammoth Museum in Yakutsk, the world's coldest city, and are expected to recover only that much. This research by Russian scientists is beyond the international campaign to clone ancient organisms.
