In a statement, Meta stated that if it is not permitted to exchange data from European customers with other nations, it will be forced to cease operations. Meta has stated that its services are harmed as a result of users' refusal to give their data. The company displays advertising to consumers based on user data.

Meta has stated that it will accept the new 2022 terms, but that if the data transfer facility is not accessible, it will be forced to shut down many of its services, including Facebook and Instagram. Meta has informed the Securities and Exchange Commission that it will be forced to stop providing services to European users unless a new framework is created as soon as possible. Users' data should not be stored in Europe, according to EU law, whereas META requires authorization to share users' data. Zuckerberg wants European users' data to be stored on American servers as well.

Let us remind you that before July 2020, European data was sent to US servers under the Privacy Shield Act, which was repealed by the European Court. Meta is also employing Standard Contractual Clauses to keep European users' data on US servers, in addition to Privacy Shield, although this is also being investigated in numerous countries, including Europe.
