West Indies legend Chris Gayle on Saturday posted a picture with Indian businessman turned-defaulter Vijay Mallya inciting various amusing reactions from Twitter users. Gayle was a long-time team member of Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore – claimed by Mallya. The meeting seems to have occurred on the sidelines of the Formula One British Grand Prix – another game where Mallya used to be vigorously put resources in till recently.
Gayle appears to have proceeded with his good relations with Mallya even after moving out from the Bangalore side and into the Kings XI Punjab setup as he subtitled the image: "Great to catch up with Big Boss @TheVijayMallya cheers ?? #RockStar ???? #F1".
Expectedly, a number of users took the opportunity to point out Mallya's history in the comments section of the post. Here are the best responses:
Vijay Mallya, the 61-year-old head of the now-old Kingfisher Airlines, has been living in willful outcast in Britain since a year ago and is confronting removal procedures in the UK courts.
In January 2017, Mallya was welcomed with criticism as he arrived to watch the India vs South Africa Champions Trophy match at The Oval cricket ground.
In those days, various onlookers at the arena had recited various interjections while getting out Mallya.
Vijay Mallya left India on March 2, 2016, after defaulting on advances adding up to Rs 9,000 crore. He has over and over denied escaping the nation, saying he is prepared to pay back the cash he owed to the Indian banks. India had in 2017 petitioned for Mallya's removal, which he contested. He is out on bail.
