The grand finale didn’t start the way, the 35-year-old wanted to as the Australian star Nick handed him to defeat in the first set launching his serves like a tracer bullet. He made the number 1 seed to place some extra effort for points.

But Novak uttered all his experience and came out as the winner in the remaining sets. In the second set, he dragged the Aussie star back and forth across the line to emerge out as the champ in the second set to level the game.

In the 9th game, Novak was left at 0-40 and Nick was serving like a true champion sprinting across the court and smashing with a wrist but the Serbian star hold the firm to save the fourth break point.

Both of them had registered 7 double faults but the difference was, while Djokovic had most of them in the first set, Kyrgios lost the momentum in the following sets to lose the opportunity of becoming the first Australian after Lleyton Hewitt to win a grand slam singles major.

I always respect you. Nick, you are such an amazing tennis talent. I had never imagined that I will say this much nice things to you, but now it’s officially a bromance.”
