England defeated Pakistan by 45 runs in the second T20I of the three-match series at Headingley on Sunday. With this, England levelled the three-match series at 1-1. In such a situation, the last match will be a series decider. Invited to bat first, the England team managed to score 200 runs in 19.5 overs. Jos Buttler scored 59 runs in 39 balls.
Chasing the target, Pakistan's team could score only 155 runs for nine wickets in 20 overs. Captain Babar Azam (22) and Mohammad Rizwan (37) gave a good start to the Pakistan team with half-century partnership, but after that the team kept losing wickets at frequent intervals. Even after Shadab Khan's unbeaten innings of 36 runs in 22 balls, the entire team remained far away from the target. Shakib Mahmood took three wickets for England, while Adil Rashid and Moeen took two wickets each. The last match of the series will be played on 20 July at Old Trafford, Manchester.
Batting first, England got off to a bad start as opener Jason Roy (10) was sent back to the pavilion by Imad Wasim in the first over of the innings. Dawid Malan (1) disappointed with the bat and as a result, England were reduced to 18/2 in the third over.
Moeen Ali then joined stand-in skipper Jos Buttler in the middle and the duo counter-attacked, taking England's score to 66/2 after the end of the sixth over. Ali (36) perished on the ball bowled by Mohammad Hasnain but Liam Livingstone and Buttler ensured momentum does not drop for the hosts.
