Shreyas Iyer who failed in the first outing in Mohali came out to bat with a positive intent. He started the innings carefully and then he exploded in an amazing fashion.

Iyer batted at number three position in both the matches till now. He smashed his third ODI ton yesterday and scored 105 runs from just 90 balls. Shreyas was awarded as the player of the match as well.

India required a brilliant finishing kick towards the end and that was provided by Suryakumar Yadav. He scored his first fifty of the one-day international format. SKY scored an unbeaten 72 runs.

The rains had stopped the game as well and the target of 399 runs was revised to 317 runs.

But still, the Aussies didn’t manage to score anything near that score. They were bundled out for 217 runs in the end. The spin bowlers were the pick of the bowlers in this game.

The spin twins Jadeja and Ashwin did a wonderful job as this complete team effort allowed India to win this match by 99 runs due to the DLS method. India has won the series as well after yesterday’s performance.

Ash is a replacement for injured Axar Patel and the team even has Washington Sundar in their ODI squad for this series against Australia which is also the last one before the ODI World Cup 2023 starts in a few days' time.

The seasoned campaigner Ashwin got three wickets and he bowled seven overs in the second game of the ODI series. By doing so, Ash also has the most wickets against The Aussies in the international cricket arena and that too across the three formats of this game. He also broke the record of a legendary Indian spin bowler.

Anil Kumble, the former captain and the head coach held the record of having the most wickets against Australia in international cricket before Ashwin broke it yesterday.

Kumble took 142 wickets against the Aussies in his career. But Ash has gone past Jumbo in this regard after yesterday’s match in Indore.

Ash has now 144 Australian wickets to his name and there are still two matches to go at least. One game will be in the 3rd and the final one-day international match of this current series and IND Vs AUS will play their first match at Chennai in the ODI World Cup 2023 as well.

Ashwin picked up the wickets of Marnus Labuschagne, David Warner and Josh Inglis in the game played on Sunday, 24th September 2023 in Indore.
