Wicketkeeper batsmen Rishabh Pant and Shubman Gill have been dropped from the Indian team from the current Test series. Rishabh Pant and Shubman Gill, who were out of the playing eleven in the Pink Ball Test match against Bangladesh, have been released from the team to play the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy. Wicket-keeper batsman KS Bharat has got a place in the team in place of Rishabh Pant.

KS Bharat, emerging as the prolific wicketkeeper batsman of Andhra Pradesh team, has been included in the Test team for the first time. However, his chances of playing are extremely low, as Wriddhiman Saha is associated with the team in the last Test match of 2019, being played at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. Apart from this, he has 615 runs in 43 T20 matches. 26-year-old KS Bharat is considered to be the top-ranked wicketkeeper.
