After all-rounder Krunal Pandya, two more players of Team India have tested positive for COVID-19 in Sri Lanka. According to the information, leg-spinners Yuzvendra Chahal and Krishnappa Gautam have tested positive for COVID-19. The two were among eight players who were identified as close contacts of Krunal. On Thursday, Team India had to face a 2-1 defeat in the T20 series. In this match, Indian team captain Shikhar Dhawan won the toss and decided to bat. Captain Dhawan's decision was not right and the Indian batsmen performed poorly. At the same time, Sri Lankan bowlers dominated Team India in the first innings and Team India could score just 81 runs in 20 overs for 5 wickets.
After Krunal found infected, the players who came in contact with him sent into isolated. These include Suryakumar Yadav and Prithvi Shaw, who will travel to England. According to the information, apart from Pandya, Chahal and Gautam and six other cricketers can stay in Sri Lanka for some time. Soon after being tested positive in both rapid antigen and RT-PCR tests on July 27, Krunal was isolated at an isolation facility. Apart from him, the remaining eight players were staying in the team hotel, but the rest of the players were away from contact.
As per the guidelines of the Sri Lankan government, anyone found to be infected with the COVID-19 needs to be in isolation for at least ten days. After testing negative, they can leave the country. People identified as close contacts of the person affected by the infection sent into isolation for seven days.
