India Vs Australia 4th T20 International: Suryakumar Yadav and his men have lost an golden chance of winning the five match series of the shortest format in the 3rd match which was played in Guhawati on Tuesday. The men in blue side couldn’t defend 223 runs in the last match.
India got to this formidable total of 222 runs mainly because of Ruturaj Gaikwad’s unbeaten 123 runs. Rutu batted till the end despite being the opener of the men in blue side in this five match T20 International series.
India had lost Jaiswal, Ishan and SKY pretty quickly than expected. After skipper Surya was dismissed, it didn’t look like that India would reach near 200 runs.
But the opener, who also bats for the Chennai Super Kings franchise batted wonderfully and made sure that his team reached a good total in the end. Even while bowling India was in the game till the Big Show arrived at the crease. India was also penalized for their slow over run rate as well.
With that, Ishan Kishan also made a bundler while catching that also helped the Aussies in many ways. Kishan took a catch in front of the stumps, which is a no-ball according to the rules and laws of cricket. Australia made full use of that free hit and they were well ahead in that run chase.
Glenn Maxwell scored his fourth century in the shortest format and he guided the run chase brilliantly with unbeaten 104 runs. Maxi was also well supported by his skipper Matthew Wade. They shared an unbeaten stand which helped them to take their team over the line as well.
India will have to rectify these mistakes and make sure they aren’t repeated in the next two games of this series. They might look for a change in the form of Prasidh Krishna because he was smashed all over the park in the last over. Deepak Chahar might be a suitable replacement for Krishna for the 4th game at least.
Maxwell will not be part of the last two matches of this India Vs Australia T20 International series. Maxi had a long tour of India. The Aussies arrive in this country even before the 2023 ODI World Cup.
Now Glenn will return home and Matthew Short can replace Maxi for the last two matches in this series in India.
