IRE Vs IND: After the tour of the Caribbean gets over with a five-match series of the shortest format, Team India will face the Irish Men as well for a series of three matches in the T20 International format.
India’s last game against West Indies will end in Florida on 13th August 2023 and then the men in blue side will gear up for the series versus Ireland before the ODI Asia Cup 2023 in Sri Lanka.
The younger players who were given chances in the T20 International format after the senior men had an early exit from T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia will not play the T20I series against Ireland.
Suryakuma Yadav, the run machine of India’s T20I format along with Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill will not participate in this three-match series. This series will even have a new captain as well because Hardik Pandya is also been rested.
The three-match series against the Irish Men will start from 18th August 2023 and the final two T20I matches will be played on 20th August 2023 and 23rd August 2023.
Jasprit Bumrah has not just been named only as a player. But he will also captain this side for this three-match series of the shortest format.
Bumrah was also the captain last year in 2022 when India went to play the rescheduled red-ball match against the hosts England. But India lost that Test match and now Bumrah will be eyeing his first win as a skipper of Team India in this series.
This upcoming series will also mark the return of Jasprit after a long injury layoff. Now Bumrah is fully fit which is a good news because the team needs him for Asia Cup and ODI World Cup in 2023.
The BCCI has rested the majority of the senior players for this three-match series of the shortest format against Ireland. The young players who have impressed in the Indian Premier League tournament have been given a go.
Rinku Singh and Jitesh Sharma have got their maiden India call-ups for these three matches of the shortest format.
While there are players like the stand-in captain Jasprit Bumrah and Prasidh Krishna, who are making a return from their long injury layoff.
The squad also features Ruturaj Gaikwad as vice-captain, Tilak Verma, Yashaswi Jaiswal, and Sanju Samson, with three spin bowlers - Ravi Bishnoi, Washington Sundar and Shahbaz Ahmed.
