On Friday, Australian captain Aaron Finch said that it is important for his team to not "overplay" the Jasprit Bumrah factor as Australian team is ready to face India in a three-match ODI series. According to Finch, India's leading fast bowler deserves respect, but it will be important for his team to focus on their strong sides. Finch said, "I believe the more the players face him, the more he will know how he bowls. So it's important that we don't make too much of it. "Finch will have to face Bumrah while opening the innings with batsman David Warner. Finch said, "He is definitely the best bowler. He is such a bowler that when you are not playing against him, you will like to see him bowling. He is a fast and aggressive bowler and he executes his strategy very well."

Indian fast bowler Bumrah is making a comeback after being out of injury for three months and the Australian team is cautious about facing him in the series starting in Mumbai on 14 January. Finch said, "We as a batting unit have to pay attention to it and every player has weak and strong side.  So we have to be mentally prepared for this challenge."

Australian All-Rounder Marnus Labushagne is set to make his ODI debut after a brilliant performance in Test cricket and is expected to face a thrilling encounter with the Bumrah-led invasion. Finch said, "Yes, this match will be exciting. We have seen a marked improvement in the Marnus game over the last 12 months and it is also reflected in his scores and the impact left in Test cricket. His home record in limited overs is superb. It is expected that his form of the Test series will be retained in the one-day as well. "Labushagne also bowls leg-break.
