Kuortane Games 2022: Star athlete Neeraj Chopra is writing his name in the books of the Gold keeper with clinching this precious medal back-to-back.
Riding on the same track as Olympics pride, Chopra won the gold at the Kuortane games with another spectacular throw of 86.69m boosting morale ahead of the all-important Commonwealth Games this year at Birmingham.
Despite tough weather conditions, Neeraj stood tall and kept his spirits high to rose to the top and clinched gold with a record throw which was more than enough for him to be at the top.
After the first throw, 25-year-old Javelin star opted out for further attempting the three throws.
He also escaped from the meeting with an injury due to a slippery surface which could have been fatal for him. However, the second-best Keshorn Walcott was just behind the Olympics champion as he recorded the throw of 86.64m while bronze winner World Champion Anderson Peters measured 84.75m. Gold winner Neeraj Chopra achieves this feat with 86.69m-throw
After the triumph, Sports and Information Minister Anurag Thakur took to Twitter to congratulate the Tokyo Olympic champion. "Gold for Neeraj! He's done it again, what an incredible champion! Best throw of 86.69m in his first attempt at the #KuortoneGames2022 @Neeraj_chopra1 clinches the top spot and goes on to win his 1st gold of the season."
Expressing his feelings after the win, Neeraj said "Tough conditions with the weather, but happy to get my first win of the season here at Kuortane. I'm feeling good and looking forward to kicking off my Diamond League season at @BAUHAUSGALAN on the 30th. Thank you for all the messages and support."
Earlier this week, Neeraj Chopra bagged the gold at the Paavo Nurmi games by setting a new national record throw of 89.30m in Finland.
After the Kuortane games, Neeraj will feature in the Stockholm leg of the Diamond League game on June 30.
