NCA to Conduct Fitness Test for Ishant Sharma on February 14-15
The first match of the two-Test series between India and New Zealand will be played in Wellington from 21 February. Before that, Team India will play practice matches against New Zealand from 14 to 16 February. Fast bowler Ishant Sharma has also been included in the Test team. Ishant will leave for New Zealand only when he passes the fitness test. According to reports, he will visit the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru on February 14-15 to give a fitness test.
31-year-old Ishant was injured in the Ranji Trophy match against Vidarbha on 21 January. He hurt his ankle. Ishant was advised to undergo a process of rehabilitation while resting for six weeks under the supervision of NCA.
According to sources, "February 14-15 has been fixed for Ishant's fitness test. It is up to Ishant to decide when he will be available for the fitness test." Ishant was included in the Indian team by the selection committee but made it clear that he would have to pass the fitness test. Ishant was scheduled to travel to New Zealand with Umesh Yadav on 6 February.
