ODI Asia Cup 2023 India Vs Pakistan: Team’s Preview

The men in green side are in great form. They have won the first game of the Super Four round of the ODI Asia Cup 2023 against Bangladesh. Their bowling lineup is world-class.

Haris Rauf, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Naseem Shah and Faheem Ashraf are quality pace bowlers who can trouble any batting side in the world.

The pace bowlers of Pakistan can generate swing with the new ball and they are equally dangerous in the final four overs of an innings as well.

The pace battery of the green side had troubled the Indian batters in the last game which ended in no result because of the rain.

India’s top order was blown away by Shaheen and Rauf. Only Hardik Pandya and Ishan Kishan could bat well in that match and their 138-run partnership rescued the men in blue side from a reeling position.

Pakistan’s only concern is their spin bowling so far and they would want to address that issue before the ODI World Cup 2023 starts in India next month.

Shadab Khan and Mohammad Nawaz will have to strike for the men in green side in this game against a side that plays the spin quite well.

While India has to address many things as their weak link can be exposed again against a bowling-heavy team of Pakistan. The Indian batters are not so good against the left-arm pace bowlers which is the reason why they struggled in the innings which they batted against Pakistan in the last game.

Rohit, Kohli, Shreyas and Jadeja were dismissed pretty early than expected. If Hardik and Ishan didn’t play those knocks, then the men in blue side couldn’t have posted a decent score on the board.

Against an experienced less side like Nepal, the Indian batters showed a lot of authority. But in that game as well, their bowling and fielding weren’t up to the mark.

The Indian team had dropped three catches while their bowlers conceded 230 runs in that game and that too against a side like Nepal who played against India for the first time.

Now with Jasprit Bumrah back, India's bowling issues should be sorted. Bumrah can come in the place of Shardul Thakur and if KL Rahul is fit, then he should walk in the place of Shreyas Iyer and Rahul should bat at the number four spot.
