The ODI World Cup in 2011 was hosted by Team India and under Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the men in blue side were crowned as the world champions. India is the first country to win this fifty-overs tournament as the hosts.

None of the other teams could achieve this feat before India did it in 2011. That year, India clinched their second World Cup trophy which came after 28 years.

In 2023 as well, India is again the host of the ODI World Cup 2023 and Rohit Sharma will lead this Indian Team in this year’s competition.

In the last 10 years, Team India hasn’t won any ICC trophy and according to many experts, this is the best chance for Team India to win the glory and that too while playing at home.

The Aussies won the 2015 ODI World Cup as the host nation and they are the second team to achieve this feat after Team India.

Australia is the team that has won five World Cup titles and they have clinched nine ICC trophies so far, which is the most by any cricketing team in this whole world.

Michael Clarke was the last man to lead Australia to World Cup glory in 2015.

The defending champions of this year’s ODI World Cup 2023 is England because they won the last World Cup event which was played at their home four years back in 2019.

Eoin Morgan was the skipper when England won their maiden World Cup tournament. They won it in a controversial fashion against New Zealand at Lords.

By winning that year’s World Cup, England is the third and the last host country to win this fifty-format competition as the host nation.

England is the only team in the world who has two ICC trophies at the same time. They won the ODI World Cup in 2019 and the T20 World Cup in 2022 in Australia.

But one more interesting fact is that none of the teams have won the T20 World Cup as the host nation till now. The next World T20 event is jointly hosted in the West Indies and the United States of America in 2024.
