ODI World Cup 2023: Australia is the ODI World Cup 2023 champions. They have clinched their sixth title in the overs format and 10th ICC trophy which is the most by any cricketing team in this world of cricket.

The Aussies didn’t start well in this year’s campaign. They lost their first two games against India and South Africa.

But they made a brilliant comeback in their match versus Sri Lanka and since then the Aussies won all their games in this ODI World Cup 2023. Cummins and Co also won the matches when it mattered the most.

They defeated South Africa in the semifinal two match and defeated the hosts of this competition in front of a jam-packed Indian crowd which was present at the world’s largest stadium in finals.

India had a good tournament. Their batters and bowlers were good in the 11 matches played. But on the big day like the finals, the men in blue side succumbed under pressure and lost the match by 6 wickets.

Virat Kohli was the highest run-getter in the tournament while Mohammed Shami was the highest wicket-taker in this year’s ODI World Cup 2023.

One player from Baggy Green has proved to a Nightmare for the whole Indian Cricket Team in two ICC Finals Played in 2023

The whole quality team like India couldn’t pass just one player from the Aussie nation. Travis Head played two mind-blowing knocks and allowed his country to win the two ICC titles in one year.

Head also played an instrumental role in winning one test match as well during the Border Gavaskar Trophy. The Aussies lost first two red ball games when Travis Head wasn’t the part of playing XI.

After those two defeats, it looked like India would whitewash Australia in the four match red ball series. But the inclusion of Travis Head saved Australia from that humiliating situation and the visitors won third Test match by nine wickets and also drew the next red ball match.

Head also played well in the three-match ODI series which was played after the BGT 2023 series, which the Aussies won by 2-1 margin.

Here are the two knocks from Travis Head which knocked India out from the game –

1. 137 runs in the ODI World Cup 2023 final

Travis Head wasn’t part of the first five matches in this year’s ODI World Cup 2023. He scored a 94 ball 109 runs on his return against New Zealand. He played well in the semifinal encounter against South Africa as well and won the player of the match award.

In the finals of the ODI World Cup 2023 Travis Headed a perfect run chase. The Aussies were in a spot of bother during a run chase of 241 runs.

They had lost Warner, Marsh and Smith with just 47 runs on the board. That time, Head produced an innings to remember and won the match for his country.

Head is just the third player from Australia to score a century in the finals of an ODI World Cup. Australia’s former Skipper Ricky Pointing scored unbeaten 141 runs against India in 2003 final and the dashing wicket-keeper batter, Adam Gilchrist slammed a magnificent ton in the 2007 final against Sri Lanka.

Now Travis Heads to this elite list with a knock of 137 runs in the finals of this year’s world cup versus India.

2. 163 runs in World Test Championship Final

Everyone knew that India’s batting would be tested in the final match of World Test Championship which was played in Kennington Oval in London and that too in front of the Australian bowlers who are the masters of the swinging and seaming conditions. But in game, India produced a total flop show and they were never in the game.

Apart from taking the first three wickets of Australia in the first innings, the Indian team looked far away from competing in the whole match. Travis Head and Steve Smith were the ones who took the game away from the men in blue side. The Aussies had lost three wickets with just 76 runs on the board.

Head scored magnificent 163 runs in the first innings and he was the top scorer for the Baggy Green team and the former skipper Steve Smith also smashed a 121 runs. They shared a stand of 285 runs as well in that game which put them ahead of Team India. Head was awarded as the player of the match in the WTC 2023 final as Australia won that game by 209 runs.
