In Singapore Open 2024, Indian women's badminton player PV Sindhu's singles journey came to an end in the second round. Sindhu had secured a straight-set victory in the first round against a Danish player, raising hopes for an impressive performance in the next round.

However, facing world number 3 player Carolina Marin from Spain, Sindhu had to endure a tough battle that ended in a 2-1 defeat over three sets.

Sindhu started strong by winning the first set but Marin staged a comeback in the next two sets, ultimately ending Sindhu's campaign in the Singapore Open.

Carolina Marin Ends PV Sindhu's Singapore Open Journey

In the final set, an intense battle unfolded between PV Sindhu and Carolina Marin who were facing each other after seven months. Previously, they had clashed in the semifinals of the Denmark Open, a match marked by considerable contention between the two players.

In this match, Sindhu claimed the first set with a commanding score of 21-11, maintaining her impressive form. The second set saw aggressive play from Carolina Marin, leaving Sindhu with no opportunity for a comeback and resulting in her defeat with a score of 11-21. The third and decisive set witnessed a thrilling contest between both players, culminating in Marin seizing victory with a score of 22-20, thus ending Sindhu's journey in the Singapore Open.

This marked Sindhu's sixth consecutive loss against Marin, indicating a less favourable record against this opponent. Thus far, Sindhu has faced Marin 17 times, with this being her 12th defeat.

PV Sindhu to Showcase Skills at Paris Olympics Now

PV Sindhu will now showcase her skills directly at the Paris Olympics. The upcoming Olympic Games are scheduled to commence on July 26 in Paris, with Indian fans hoping for a strong performance from Sindhu.

Keeping her focus on this mega event, Sindhu will undergo approximately one month of training in Germany, a plan that has received approval from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.

PV Sindhu has already won two medals in the Olympics. She secured a silver medal at the Rio Olympics 2016 and a bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics.
