Qatar in 2022: The international association of football has decided to conduct the 2022 FIFA World Cup which is designated to Qatar in 2022. The event was initiated on 20th November and will be kept going till 18th December 2022.
This is the first world cup to be held in the Arab world, and the second world cup to be held in Asia after the 2002 tournament in South Korea and Japan.
FIFA was first established on 21 May 1904 by seven national associations, who took the initiative of uniting their countries through a friendly sporting event of football.
The participated seven countries of FIFA at that time included Belgium, Denmark, France, Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland.
This association had chosen the name of the event as FIFA, which was short for "Federation Internationale Football Association", and this international event is held in Qatar in 2022.
The responsibility for the FIFA World Cup of 2022 has been given to Russia and Qatar after a reported case of FIFA leadership with corruption, bribery, and vote-rigging related to the election of FIFA President Sepp Blatter.
These allegations led to the indictment of nine high-ranking officials and five corporate executives by the US department of justice for the charges of fraud conduction, racketeering, wire fraud, and money laundering.
On 27th May 2015, several of these officials were arrested by the Swiss authorities, and the FIFA World of 2018 and 2022 was awarded to Russia and Qatar.
The first tournament of FIFA was staged at the 1908 Olympics in London, which made the Olympics more successful than its Olympic predecessors.
During World War I, when the travel of the teams was severely limited and many players sent off to war, the survival of the organization was in the doubt. After the war was put to an end, the organization was run by Cornelis August Wilhelm Hirschman.
It was saved from extinction but at the cost of the withdrawal of the Home nation, the United Kingdom, who cited an unwillingness to participate in international competition with their recent World War enemies. The home nation later resumed its membership.
Unlike previous FIFA World Cups which usually get played in the month of June-July, this year it will be played in the month of November-December to avoid the intense Summer Qatari heat.
The match schedule was confirmed by FIFA in July 2020. The group stage was set to begin on 21 November, with four matches every day. The final match will be played on 18th December 2022 at the Lusail Iconic Stadium.
