The Indian captain Virat Kohli has termed the World Test Championship as ICC's biggest trophy. On Tuesday, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has proposed to conduct 14 global tournaments in 9 years from 2023 to 2031. Virat Kohli has also given his opinion about this. ICC has proposed to bring two new tournaments to all Cricket Playing Nations, one is the T20 Champions Cup, while the other is the One Day Champions Cup. The idea is to organize both these tournaments at a gap of 4 years. In such a situation, if these two tournaments also join the FTP of the ICC, then at least one ICC tournament will be held every year, while in 9 years a total of 14 global tournaments will be organized by the ICC.
On the other hand, ahead of the first Test match of the series against New Zealand, Virat Kohli has said, "I believe the World Test Championship will be the biggest ICC tournament in all these tournaments. All other tournaments will be below that for me. It will potentially be a big trophy for all of them and every team will want to play the final match at the historic ground of Lord's. We are in the same zone and we want to qualify for the finals and then wins the World Test Championship. "
He said, "Test cricket has become more exciting because of the ICC World Test Championship. This is something we have experienced as a team, although we do not have many matches to play at home. Some of the matches will be against the West Indies, while the Test series against Australia is also part of the World Test Championship. This will be our first overseas tour after the domestic season. "
