A massive explosion occurred on Monday at the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) refinery in the Koyali area of Vadodara district, Gujarat.
The blast took place in a storage tank at the IOCL refinery, leading to a severe fire. Thick clouds of smoke were visible for several kilometers.
There is a tense atmosphere in the nearby companies following the fire. A team from the administration has reached the site to control the situation. Around 10 fire trucks are being used to extinguish the flames.
Vadodara District Collector Bijal Shah informed that the explosion occurred around 3:50 PM. The IOCL refinery, located in the Koyli area of Vadodara, is a unit of Indian Oil Corporation, a government undertaking. Local authorities are present at the site as soon as the fire broke out.
This incident follows a major explosion that took place nearly 20 years ago at the Indian Oil Corporation's Gujarat refinery. The incident, which occurred in 2005, resulted in 13 people being injured.
