Suspended JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna was remanded to six days of SIT custody by a Karnataka court on Friday, May 31, in connection with an ongoing investigation into an obscene video case. He will remain in custody until June 6.

Revanna was brought to the CID office in Bengaluru after landing at Kempegowda International Airport. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) is investigating allegations of sexual harassment and criminal intimidation made by a woman working at his home.

He had left the country on a diplomatic passport nearly a month ago and returned to India from Berlin, Germany.

Upon arriving at Bengaluru Airport this morning, the Karnataka government’s SIT immediately took him into custody.

Revanna had evaded summons from authorities and remained outside the country for approximately a month. Prajwal Revanna, aged 33, is the grandson of JD(S) supremo and former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda.

He is also a candidate for the BJP-JD(S) alliance from the Hassan constituency in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

The SIT deployed a team of women police officers to execute the warrant against Prajwal by sending a message. Sources within the SIT revealed that shortly after disembarking from his flight in Munich, women officers welcomed him in khaki uniforms.

Arrest of Naveen Gowda and Chetan

Before this, the SIT had arrested two key suspects in connection with the case, identified as Naveen Gowda and Chetan.

Police sources informed news agency ANI that the suspects were apprehended during their appearance in the High Court to seek anticipatory bail.

Chetan Gowda and Naveen Gowda are accused of allegedly distributing pen drives containing videos purportedly showing sexual harassment of women by Revanna.
