Maharashtra: Hindustani Bhau sent to Judicial Custody for 14 days over Student Protest Case

Hindustani Bhau, who became a celebrity through YouTube videos, was produced in the Magistrate Court in Bandra, Mumbai today. From here Hindustani Bhau was sent to judicial custody for 14 days. Vikas Phatak alias Hindustani Bhau was arrested on February 1 for inciting class 10th and 12th students to protest against offline board examinations.
It is alleged that Hindustani Bhau allegedly caused riots outside the Dharavi residence of Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad on Monday. Bhau's lawyer Mahesh Mulay has approached the Magistrate Court for bail, whose hearing has been fixed for Monday. Till then Hindustani Bhau will remain in jail. A case has been registered against Vikas Phatak and many others under various sections of the IPC. The Mumbai Police has also registered a case against him under Section 3 of the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act 1984.
Students protested against offline board exams

In many areas of Maharashtra, 10th and 12th students had demanded to cancel the offline examination and take the online examination. It is alleged that Phatak had instigated the students to protest on the streets. These students had gheraoed the bungalow of the state education minister Varsha Gaikwad located in Dharavi, Mumbai. The police had to lathi-charge to control the crowd of students who had gathered in hundreds. In the case, Home Minister of Maharshtra Dilip Walse Patil had ordered an inquiry into the entire incident.
