Mudiya Purnima Mela 2024: In Krishna's city of Mathura, Govardhan Mudiya Purnima Mela will be celebrated with great pomp and show this year, as it is every year. The administration has made all the necessary preparations.
This year's Purnima Mela will commence on July 17 and continue until July 21. The world-famous Mudiya Purnima Mela in Govardhan attracts visitors from all over the globe.
This year, too, millions of devotees are expected to attend. The pilgrims at the Govardhan Mudiya Purnima Mela undertake a 21-kilometre-long circumambulation (parikrama) of the Giriraj mountain, visiting temples along the way.
The parikrama route includes a 1.2-kilometer stretch that falls within Rajasthan.
The Mudiya Mela will conclude on Monday, July 21. From a security perspective, the entire fair area has been divided into 9 super zones, 21 zones, and 62 sectors.
Additionally, 105 barriers, 70 parking lots, 31 watchtowers, 5 permanent police posts, 37 temporary police posts, 52 mobile units, 6 lost and found centres, and 12 fire tender teams have been established.
To prevent any incidents, police personnel will be deployed in the fair 24 hours a day.
SSP Shailesh Pandey has clearly instructed people not to obstruct the path by placing small idols on the roads. During peak crowd times, only emergency vehicles such as ambulances, rescue vehicles, and garbage removal vehicles will be allowed to operate.
No officer's vehicle will be permitted. He gave strict instructions to the police officers to focus solely on their duties and not get involved in facilitating darshan or parikrama for their family members.
SSP Shailesh Pandey further informed that the security arrangements for the Mudiya Purnima Mela will be managed by four thousand police personnel.
During a media interaction, he mentioned that the police administration has finalized the security plan. A total of 116 CCTV cameras have been installed along the entire Parikrama route, while approximately one hundred CCTV cameras have been installed in the three main temples.
During the Mela, nine Additional Superintendents of Police, 19 Circle Officers, and 72 Inspectors will be deployed, along with 568 Sub-Inspectors and 1481 Constables and Head Constables.
Additionally, 45 female Sub-Inspectors, four Traffic Inspectors, and 63 Traffic Sub-Inspectors will also be on duty. SSP Shailesh Pandey mentioned that 213 Traffic Constables, 600 Home Guards, two Radio Inspectors, 14 Radio Sergeants, 45 Radio Operators, two companies of PAC, one company of Flood Team, and NCC cadets will also be deployed.
