A major update has emerged regarding flights from Noida International Airport. A meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), during which the flight list and the timeline for obtaining the necessary No Objection Certificates (NOC) were decided, ahead of the commencement of commercial flights.

The trial for commercial flights at the airport is scheduled for November 30. The Airport Authority of India, along with airlines like Akasa and Indigo, will participate in the trial. Following this, regular flights will begin.

Trials to Start on Completed Runway

Work on Noida International Airport, being constructed in Jewar, Greater Noida, is progressing rapidly. The airport was initially set to open on September 28, 2024, but due to incomplete construction, the flights are now expected to begin in April 2025.

One of the runways is almost complete, and commercial flight trials will commence on that runway. After the trials, further decisions on flights will be based on the board's report.

Dr. Arun Vir Singh, Chief Executive Officer of Yamuna Authority, confirmed that the decision to conduct commercial flight trials on November 30 was made during the meeting.

The Airport Authority of India, along with airlines like Akasa and Indigo, will be part of the trial. He also mentioned that both Category I and Category III Instrument Landing Systems (ILS) have been installed at the airport, and the DGCA has tested them successfully.

When Will the License Be Granted?

The CEO stated that according to the upcoming schedule, the calibration of the ILS (Instrument Landing System) will take place from October 4 to 6, and the report will be submitted by October 10. The calibration certificate will be issued by October 15.

The flight process will be submitted to the DGCA by November 15, and by November 25, the DGCA will prepare the flight drawings. The commercial flight trial on November 30 will take 1 to 2 days to complete.

After that, the application for aerodrome licensing will be submitted in December. The DGCA is expected to issue the license within a maximum of 90 days, with the license likely to be granted by March next year.

The meeting of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) has already taken place, and the Noida Airport Authority of India has submitted the application for approval.

Discussions regarding the commencement of international flights will take place only after receiving approval. On the very first day of operations at Noida International Airport, one or more international flights and several domestic flights are expected to begin.

Ticket bookings may also start soon. The Airport Authority has set April 17 as the final deadline, but flights are anticipated to start before that date.
