The Samajwadi Party considers Mainpuri to be a stronghold. However, in the upcoming Uttar Pradesh assembly elections, the ruling BJP will face a tough challenge in this traditional SP bastion. Mainpuri, Bongaon, Kishni, and Karhal are the four assembly seats in the Mainpuri district. The Samajwadi Party presently holds all of these seats.
Mulayam Singh Yadav, the patriarch of the Samajwadi Party, began his political career in Mainpuri, and now Akhilesh Yadav is contesting the assembly elections for the first time. Raju Yadav, Brajesh Katheria, and Alok Shakya, current MLAs from Mainpuri Sadar, Kishni, and Bongaon assembly constituencies, have run for the Samajwadi Party. It's worth noting that Akhilesh Yadav, the president of the Samajwadi Party, is running for the Karhal seat, while Satyapal Singh Baghel, the BJP's candidate is running against Akhilesh Yadav.
The Samajwadi Party considers the local population to be their vote bank. They are, however, complimenting the current Yogi-led government for maintaining law and order. The BJP can provide a serious challenge to the Samajwadi Party. Many individuals, however, believe that unemployment, a lack of infrastructure, and poor connectivity are also issues and that voting will be held on these topics as well.
The greatest challenges in this neighborhood, according to Rocky Shukla, a Mainpuri resident, are education, health, and basic facilities. "Infrastructure was created under the SP government, but it could not happen with the current BJP government,". When it comes to administration, though, Yogi Sarkar is superior. It would be better if these two were combined.
They anticipate that the election would not be as one-sided as in the past, because the BJP will mount a strong opposition to the SP candidate. "BJP has a good influence," Shukla added. Previously, it was extremely simple for the SP candidate to win from this seat, but I believe the Samajwadi Party and the BJP will have a tight fight.
Damodar Kashyap, 56, stated that the BJP is challenging the Samajwadi Party this time, which has never happened before. He stated, "We are pleased that the Yogi government is providing free rations." Hooliganism and mafiaraj have come to an end.
Sandeep Chaturvedi, a local businessman, says that the city requires better connectivity and that educational institutions, medical facilities, and young unemployment will continue to be major challenges. "The largest concern is unemployment," he continued, "together with a lack of development and connectivity." Etawah has a greater number of trains than Mainpuri. The BJP government did provide free meals during the Corona period. At this point, I believe the competition is fierce. Mainpuri received no more money from the Samajwadi Party than Etawah. There isn't a single educational institution in the area."
