In a truly troubling incident that has stunned Uttar Pradesh, a man used "triple talaq" to divorce his wife while she was teaching a class at a private school in Barabanki, doing so in front of her students.

Mohammad Shakeel, the male, was charged with a crime by law enforcement.

Shakeel, who was born in the Firozabad district, has just returned from Saudi Arabia. The woman said in her written complaint that her husband showed up at her school to do the "triple talaq."

She also accused her in-laws of subjecting her to dowry-related harassment since their wedding three years ago on September 1, 2020.

The woman said she was being harassed because of dowry expectations. According to her, she, her mother-in-law, and others were exposed to physical abuse and eviction threats if she did not satisfy their dowry demands.

As a result, she was returned to her parental home, where she had been dwelling and working as a teacher at a private institution, according to the police.

Sanjay Maurya, the Station House Officer of Kotwali city, acknowledged that a case had been filed against Shakeel.

According to the Indian Penal Code and the Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Act of 2019, the offences include assault, intimidation, and dowry harassment.

Shakeel Pronounces "Triple Talaq" Publicly

Shakeel returned to India on June 28 this year, and on July 10 he paid a visit to his wife at her maternal house in Barabanki.

Despite his appeal for her to return home with him, she acknowledged her unwillingness to do so right away.

Shakeel stayed for six days before returning home, according to her statement. According to the woman's testimony, he visited her school on August 24 and proclaimed "triple talaq" in front of her students during her class.

It's worth noting that the contentious practice of "triple talaq" was declared illegal and unconstitutional in India in 2019.
