Justice for Ankita Bhandari: Protesting against the alleged denial of justice to slain receptionist Ankita Bhandari, the Congress Mahila Morcha state president Jyoti Rautela, and fellow female party workers got their heads shaved on Thursday on their March to the Uttarakhand Chief Minister’s house.

Congress Mahila Morcha president led the protest to the CM’s house which was intercepted by the police at Hathibarkala Chowk. The Mahila Morcha sat on the Chowk demanding justice for Ankita while raising slogans of 'Ankita hum sharminda hain, tere quatil zinda hain (Ankita we are ashamed that your killers are alive)”.

There have been constant demands to conduct a CBI probe in the Ankita Bhandari case from Congress, as they accuse the state government of protecting the killers and saving the image of one of their party leaders.

It is worth noting that Ankita Bhandari, who worked as a receptionist at Vanatara Resort, was allegedly murdered by the resort’s owner Pulkit Arya along with his two companions after she refused to offer ‘extra services’ to a VIP guest.

Ankita’s body was recovered from the Chilla Barrage near the resort after a few days of her murder. The accused have been in jail for more than a year due to the continuation of the trial in court.
