Mother is like God to her children, who takes care of every happiness and need of the children from their birth till their upbringing. But have you ever heard of a mother who not only became a mother to children without parents but also begged for them on the streets.

That woman has become the mother of 1400 children, not one or two. The name of this woman who devoted her whole life to helping others is Sindhu Tai. Sindhu Tai is called Mother Teresa of Maharashtra. She spent her whole life in the service of orphan children. Sindhu Tai may have become the mother of 1400 orphan children, but it was not easy for her to raise so many children. For this Sindhu Tai had to face a lot of struggles in life. Sindhu Tai belongs to the shepherd family of the Wardha district of Maharashtra. Sindhu Tai's childhood was spent in Wardha. Her childhood was spent in the midst of many hardships. When Sindhu was 9 years old, she was married off to an older man. Sindhu Tai had studied only till the fourth class, she wanted to study further but after marriage, her in-laws did not let her dream come true.

Sindhu Tai did not get a place in in-laws and maternal homes

From studies, there were many such small and big matters, in which Sindhu Tai always had to face injustice. She also raised her voice against it, but the result was that when she was pregnant, her in-laws threw her out of the house. Not only this, the in-laws took her out of the house, but their parents also refused to keep her with them.

Gave birth to a single child

Sindhu Tai stumbled after every stumbling block. She gave birth to a daughter amidst struggles in pregnancy. Giving birth to a child alone was not easy. She had cut her umbilical cord by hitting her with a stone.

After this, Sindhu even begged for her daughter at the railway stations. This period was such a time in her life when Sindhu aroused the feeling of becoming the mother of thousands of children.

There came a time when Sindhu Tai left her baby girl at the temple but later found a child at the railway station, which she adopted. It came to her mind that she should take up the responsibility of these orphan children. Sindhu Tai started arranging food for the orphan children. Sindhu started begging at the railway station to feed thousands of children.

Sindhu Tai received the honour

Sindhu Tai has received more than 700 honours so far for her noble work. Sindhu Tai spent the amount received from the respect she had received so far in the upbringing of her children. She has also received a doctorate degree from the DY Institute of Technology and Research Pune.

The Marathi film 'Mee Sindhutai Sapkal' has been made on her life which was released in the year 2010. The film has also been screened at the 54th London Film Festival and now in the year 2021, Sindhu Tai was also honoured with the Padma Shri award 2021 for her social work.
