EV Two-Wheeler: The central government has asked 7 companies making electric two-wheelers to return Rs 469 crore. All these companies were taking subsidies by violating the rules of the Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric Vehicles II scheme (FAME-II).
In case of non-return of the amount, these companies will be de-registered by the government in 7-10 days from the Fame-2 scheme. It is not yet disclosed that how much these companies have to pay.
The government is considering registering an FIR against these companies in the case of a subsidy grab.

The subsidy is given by the Central Government under FAME II.
30,000 off on 2-wheelers up to Rs 1.50 lakh.
1,50,000 is given as a discount on 4 wheelers up to 15 lakhs.
The speed of the EV scooter should be up to 40 km in 1 hour.
Should travel 80 km on a full charge.
Lithium-ion batteries will have to be used in the vehicle.
Vehicle production should be done in India up to 50%.
There are 13 EV companies under the scanner of the ministry. The ministry said, 'In our investigation, 6 companies have been found correct. Clean chit has been given to 6 companies, but action has been taken against 7 companies.
The government has imposed a fine of Rs 469 crore on these 7 companies. 2 out of 7 EV companies have said to return the subsidy amount along with interest. Now these 7 companies will not be able to take advantage of this subsidy.
The government was receiving complaints of EV manufacturing violations after which the investigation was handed over to ARAI and ICAT. ARAI and ICAT investigated 13 EV companies. Investigation revealed that companies like Hero Electric and Okinawa violated the PMP guidelines.
(FAME-II) was announced in 2019. 3701 crores have been used so far in FAME-II. At the same time, 5172 crore rupees have been allotted by the government for 2024.
